Opening the ceremony, Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Ali Ibrahim assured his support for the activities of the Student Government and urged them to strive for the realization of XAJSi goals.

The outgoing Student Government President, Mr. Abdikarim Abdullahi Mohamed, reflected his previous experience in the Student Government. It had been an inspirational and insightful experience for him and his members. He appreciated the support of the Rector, Faculty, Students Affairs Office, and students during his tenure and thanked SIMAD University for giving them the opportunity to be involved in XAJSi and University events.

“We developed a plan last year, a plan that would provide the best learning experience and environment to the students, unfortunately, with the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the closure of schools and colleges, some of our plans could not get executed. I am glad that my successor will now be taking the lead and hopefully he will continue implementing all these plans along with his own agendas”

Mr. Abdikarim said.

Continuing the ceremony, the incoming President of the Student Government, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hassan addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude to the students for choosing him as the rightful candidate. Mr. Mohamed promised that his government will deliver their best during the year and assured that they will continue the efforts and pending activities of the previous government members.

Finally, the Acting Rector of SIMAD University, Eng. Mohamed Mohamud Mohmed, closing the ceremony, appreciated the efforts and hard work of the outgoing student government and congratulated the incoming student government executives and wished them a good tenure.

At SIMAD, Student Government was first established during the academic year of 2013-2014, with an objective to give students a platform to showcase their talents and help them develop their career, personality, and organizational skills through various interactive programs. This incoming government becomes the 7th Student Government to serve and represent the interests of undergraduate students.
