SU Students Elect New Student Government Leadership

After weeks of campaigning and hours of voting, SIMAD University undergraduate students have elected a new student leadership Government for 2017/18.  Mr. Said Ali Warsame is the new president-elect, winning 54.1% of the total votes counted.

The elections started on Wednesday morning at the various Campuses of the University. There were many polling stations available on the campuses since all the university students were on-campus, ready to cast their ballots for the new government.

After hours of voting and counting it down, new student leaders were finally elected. Here is the official result of the election.

1. XAJSI elect-President, Mr. Said Ali Warsame, received 54.1% of the total votes counted. Mr. Bashir Abdullahi came second with 45.9 % votes.

2. XAJSI elect-Vice-President, Ms. Sumaya Mohamed Mohamud, received 79.3% of the total votes counted. Ms. Miski came second with 20.7% votes.

3. XAJSI elect-General Secretary, Mr. Mohamed Osman Mohamud, received 50.7% of the total votes counted. Mr. Sayid Ali Nor Hassan came second with 49.3% votes.

Newly-elected officials will be commencing their term at the beginning of August 2017, which is exactly at the inauguration ceremony.
