SIMAD Conducts Its Annual Event of Cultural Week

SIMAD University is known to conduct academic and non-academic activities every year, in line with this, it hosted last week SU cultural week-which is one of its biggest events in the whole year and it was held on May 5-8, 2018.

SU cultural week is a week-long cultural festival intended for inspiring our students to show the diversity and the richness of our Somali culture.

First of all, the Deputy Rector for Academics opened the ceremony and welcomed all the guests, the speech of Sheikh Abdihayi Sheikh Adan follows and he addressed about “the relationship between the Islam and culture”.

In addition, The Somali renowned poets Maki Haji Banadir and Abdirizak Ahmed Ghedi (Akhiro) participated in the event.

During the happening, some students of the University exhibited books in different topics, also the Dhoobaale Library hosted “Cultural artifacts and gallery show event” in SIMAD University culture Room, in this mini-event the Somali culture artifacts and the photos of the Somali Muslim scholars, poets, heroes, tourism hubs and other kinds of stuff were displayed.

Also, different competitions were held among students including tug of war, Somali traditional dance competition, poet competition, Koran recitation competition and tens of others.

The event went viral to social media particularly on Twitter and attracted by the eyes of many people, also, many celebrities have tweeted about the event.
