SIMAD University has been ranked 1st in Somalia by the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. In the latest edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, released on January 28, 2021, SIMAD is ranked 1st among universities in Somalia (http://www.webometrics.info/en/Africa/Somalia%20).
This ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Spanish Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas – CSIC), which itself is the largest public research organization in Spain and third largest in Europe. Started in 2004, the Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year covering more than 31 000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide. This ranking aims to improve the presence of the academic and research institutions on the Web and to promote the open access publication of scientific results.
The web ranking is compiled and measured based on Visibility (50%)- meaning web contents impact, analyzed based on the number of external networks (subnets) linking to the institution’s webpages, Transparency/ Openness (10%), meaning the number of citations from Top 210 contributors, and Excellence (40%), meaning evaluating the number of papers among the top 10% that are most cited in 26 disciplines during five years (2015-2019).
This ranking reflects the ongoing commitment of our faculty members and staff to research and scientific publications. In the last two years, our researchers published 16 international indexed papers, including ISI and Scopus journals, as well as published more articles in local conference proceedings, making the University’s research output and productivity reach its peak.
SIMAD University is always determined to maintain and boost its growing reputation by excelling academic excellence and expanding its research productivity.
