Two phases of long‑term shift in extreme precipitation in Somalia

In Somalia, there has been an abundance of extreme rainfall with significant economic and social consequences in recent decades. Urban food inundations can occur as precipitation intensifies.

A team of researchers has investigated the changes in extreme rainfall trends for the two phases 1901–1958 and 1959–2016 across Somalia. The findings illustrate that there were some interesting shifts in precipitation extremes in the past century.
