The Chairman of SIMAD UNIVERSITY Board of Trustees (BOT), Dr. Abdulrahman S. Al Muhailan, and his Vice-Chairman, Sheikh Mohamed Al-Khamis, arrived in Mogadishu, Somalia to unveil many developmental projects implemented at SIMAD by Direct Aid, and to attend the 9th BOT meeting. They were accompanied in the arrival by Dr. Ismail Mohamed, Head of Direct Aid office in Nairobi, Kenya.
SIMAD UNIVERSITY With a New Look
Initially, the BOT members officially unveiled SIMAD UNIVERSITY with a new look after the university has undergone an overhaul renovation lasting more than 6 months. The transformation touches every facet of the university. First, new interlocking pavers are now intact in the university’s main campus; second, our classrooms are neatly equipped with the latest facilities and gadgets – modern chairs and tables are now installed in the classes; and finally, each and every administrative office in SIMAD UNIVERSITY has full-set office furniture – from our Rector who now has an Executive desk set, to the administrative assistants who have complete office suites.
Unveiling Faculty of Engineering
Then, the BOT members opened the new building for the Faculty of Engineering, a three-storey modern building. The new building will go into operation in September, 2015. This comes a year after the BOT also opened last year a new building for the Faculty of Medicine that is now fully in operational.
Launching SIMAD Conference Hall
Next, the BOT members publicly launched a renovated SIMAD Conference Hall. The earlier hall of SIMAD UNIVERSITY was not refurbished since its initial construction in 1999, but the new one is more beautiful and standardized with today’s construction trends. The new hall can host almost 500 participants in one event.
SIMAD 9th Board of Trustees Meeting
Finally, the BOT members attended the 9th BOT meeting at SHAMO Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia.
